critical discourse analysis of the LamYazrae's novel based on Fairclough's approach

The historic and important event of the Iraq's Baathist regime war against Iran, despite the all-round and unprecedented impact it had on various social, political, and cultural fields of Iranian society, provoked men of letters to react against this incident because they were part of this society, and, therefore, directly involved with the issue of war and its problems. Today, the result of these literary reactions is specifically called the “Holy Defense” literature. Novel is one of the widely used literary genres in this type of literature, which has attracted the attention of many writers due to its structural capacities in representing the event of war. As speakers and users of the language, most novelists of the Holy Defense, from the beginning of the war until now, have described and depicted this great event; under the influence of the cultural and ideological atmosphere that governs each period, they have tried to produce their works and introduced different discourses to the literature of Holy Defense. Mohammad Reza Bayrami is one of the famous authors of Holy Defense literature, who is influenced by the dominant discourse system to create novels in this field.
Lam Yazra is one of Bayram's prominent novels, which has become one of the bearers of the speech system of the 1990s by using the ideological function of language to confront some of the prevailing attitudes regarding the historical period of the Iran-Iraq war.
