Resistance literature expresses the pains and struggles experienced by nations or specific segments of society during pivotal historical moments. As such, it is a continuous representation of opposing forces, juxtaposing life against death and freedom against oppression. Consequently, resistance literature in each period is molded by the distinctive characteristics of that era and is influenced in form, content, and orientation by the environmental, historical, social, and political conditions of the time. Turkish resistance literature, likewise, has evolved in response to diverse historical developments and socio-political events, reflecting unique attributes and adopting new forms with each phase of its existence. The significant impact of various incidents, coupled with Turkey’s involvement in both World Wars, has lent Turkish resistance poetry considerable depth and diversity, allowing it to pass through numerous developmental stages.
