The concept of justice-seeking has long existed in contemporary Afghan poetry and has gained greater prominence with the rise of oppression, discrimination, and injustice. Following the emergence of the “Tabasom Movement” (2016 CE/1395 SH), attention to justice-seeking surged in Afghan society, revitalizing the spirit of resistance against oppression and the struggle against stagnation and suffocation. This movement was sparked by the brutal murder of a nine-year-old girl named Shukria Tabasom and six of her companions. During this movement, Afghan poets, through the art of poetry, adopted justice-oriented social stances and produced committed literary works.
The present study, conducted using library sources and an analytical-descriptive method, examines the prominent thematic and semantic features of the justice-seeking poems of the Tabasom Movement and elucidates the primary foundations of justice-seeking in these poems. The corpus of this research consists of poems composed by 30 Afghan poets during this protest movement. The analysis reveals that the people of Afghanistan have grown weary of discrimination, prejudice, injustice, deprivation, insecurity, as well as governmental incompetence, irresponsibility, and negligence. Furthermore, they regard awakening, unity, equality, brotherhood, and peace as the pathways out of the prevailing social disorder
