Ziyarat Ashura is one of the most prominent ritual-theological texts in the Muslim heritage; it functions not merely as a devotional prayer, but as a doctrinal and identity-constructing manifesto.Using a descriptive-analytical research method, this study explores the theological propositions embedded in the Ziyarat Ashura. It demonstrates that by emphasizing concepts such as a definitive stance on Monotheism (Tawhid), the centrality of Imamate, and the practices of Tawalli (loving the Ahl al-Bayt) and Tabarri (disavowing their enemies) as theological discourse—or a ‘theological manifesto’ for Muslims—Ziyarat Ashura not only conveys doctrinal teachings but also reconstructs the religious, political, and social identity of Muslims throughout history. In Ziyarat Ashura, Monotheism (Tawhid) is manifested not merely as a theological theory, but as the negation of all forms of tyranny (Taghut) in the framework of a ‘Theology of Resistance.’ It guides the pilgrim along a path of salvation that fosters a commitment to justice, resistance against oppression, and adherence to moral and religious principles.Furthermore, by emphasizing the concept of ‘Theology of Resistance,’ this article analyzes the role of Ziyarat Ashura in discursive formation. In this framework, the pilgrim is not merely a passive reader, but an identity-constructing agent who, by reciting and performing the Ziyarat, renews their allegiance to the front of Truth and disavows the front of Falsehood, thereby being called upon to adopt an active stance against injustice in every age.
