Purpose and Background: Mohammad Javad Mohabbat is a poet who, using simple language and original imagery, has expressed the concepts of resistance, sacrifice, national identity, and related components in an artistic context. Based on a cognitive approach to language and literature, this research aims to show how the poet’s mind, relying on visual schemas, conveys abstract concepts of sustainability to the audience in the form of tangible images.

Study Method: The method of this research is descriptive-analytical and based on qualitative analysis of themes; thus, examples of relevant poems were selected and analyzed based on the theory of cognitive schemas.

Research Findings: The findings show that three main schemas in Mohabbat’s poems have particular prominence: movement, power, and volume. These schemas, which are often formed based on human physical experiences, are effective cognitive tools for representing abstract concepts such as resistance, struggle, and standing up to the enemy. For example, the movement scheme is clearly used to visualize the challenging path of the warriors, the power scheme is used to show the power of will and sacrifice, and the volume scheme is used to describe the land as a sacred place for stability.

Conclusion: The visual language used in the poems of love not only has an aesthetic structure, but also, by utilizing cognitive schemes, it effectively and permanently conveys the content of resistance.
